Jeff Fredette ISDE Helmet Cam Video

Hey everybody, The Chilean Six Days is less than three weeks away, most of us leave in two weeks for La Serena, so it's time to rev things up here a little bit.

I came across this helmet cam video I worked on with Jeff Fredette last year during the New Zealand Six Days and thought it might put us all in the mood.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVl6grp3Sww

Fredette wore the helmet cam during his end of the day 15 minute work period and it's done in real time with a couple of drop in "bird-eye view" shots.

Jay Hall, of Hall's Husqvarna / GasGas, is the Parc Ferme manager and can be seen with the GasGas t-shirt on. Jay is an example of the roughly 100 volunteers that help make the American Six Days effort a success each year.

The video is about 13 minutes long and gives an ISDE rider's eye view of what the 15 minute end of the day routine is like.

This year we (GoFasters) are working on putting together videos of each day's activities to go along with still photos and online commentary and reporting we do here, on our website and on Cyclenews.com.

    Hope you enjoy it.

Cool video Steve. What an interesting perspective to watch what happens in the work period at the end of the day. I especially like the plug for Go Fasters.com at the very end! Less than 2 weeks to go and off to Chile, see you all down there!

We actually recorded a lot of helmet cam video with Fredette during last years NewZealand Six Days but haven't had a lot of time to put it together in a usable format.

    Maybe this year...

I enjoy any video of Fredette, be it changing a tire or riding. His is one of a great, smooth, effortless and sensible style that allows a long ventures at a pace few can match. And at what nearly 50 yrs old and aboard a bike the motorcycle media has decreed as a foo foo trail bike. His tips, be it for bike prep or negotiating a challenging obstacle/course are to be memorized, rehersed and applied.

I need to get one of those tire changing stands. Fredette made those tires go on like magic. I wish there was some of the racing in the video, but it was interesting to watch.

Tire changing stands are key to doing quick changes with Tire Balls. Offroad Champions (www.offroadchampions.com) makes a great one.

If you plan on doing bib mousses or tire balls, make sure the stand has a bead breaker (the bar to push down the bead).
