KTM 200 EXC Jackpiner Edition ???

If memory (and a brief web search) serves me '02 is the 30th anniversary of the Penton 175 Jackpiner, the first Penton with a KTM engine. Should KTM have built a Jackpiner 200? Some of my thoughts were:
    - They would have an excuse not to build a pumpkin orange bike.
    - The over 40 crowd would probably take the bait.
    - They could trick it out with bark busters, skid plate, enduro computer, Scotts stabilizer, .....
    - They could offer other anniversary models, i.e. Mint 380, in following years.

They already did it as a 25-year anniv. version in '97 (1/2); called it the LE. 200 made.

I know a guy that has one. Sure a looker, too - sky blue, black seat, yellow backgrounds. Tho suspension could be better.

The LE is a pretty bike. There was one for sale on ebay a few months back. It would be a real oddball suspension wise, though. It had the Ohlin's, I think, PDS shock on it. KTM went with WP for the PDS on the 98 and newer so the only KTM bikes to ever receive that shock from the factory were those 200 LE's.

Good idea on the anniversary edition, though. Maybe they should do up a 250EXC as you suggested.

97.5, actually. It's brand new, never been ridden? Quite a collector's item!

I'm pretty sure I have seen the Jackpiner of which you speak, Enduro Nut. It is a knockout, and if I had the money for collectibles, I'd own it.

I agree ! It reminds me of the old PENTONS - great retro colors.

How was Muenster ? We rode the 15th/22nd - it was a great time. It was my first/second time out there, nice place to ride and even better place to learn moto. maintanence 101 - the art of dis-assembling and re lubing everything the sand touchs ! Let's try and hookup possibly on the 29th(Monday) if interested.

I'm racing the TORO cross-country in Denton the 28th, so I'll be too whipped for Monday.

Yeah, Muenster is sandy. Also, the many creek crossings can play havok with the axles, brake pins, etc., so I have to pull them regularly to keep them lubed with anti-seize compound.

I haven't been riding since Columbus Day, when I pulled a muscle in my thigh big-time. But I'm 100 percent again, and working out daily to try to get in some semblance of shape. Unfortunately, the shape I'm in is John Candy's shape. But I'm working on it.

The Muenster enduro is Nov. 4. I may go out to watch the AA riders blast through the woods that I normally creep through.

I'd like to get together sometime, though. Let's keep in touch.
