I'm thinking about mounting my spare trailer tire inside on one of the rear barn doors, but I'm a little worried about bending a hinge.

Anybody had a spare on a door ?

I use an enclosed trailer for work... I hang some stuff on the rear door (cords and air hoses and whatnot), but I don't think I would go with something as heavy as a spare...

I am converting my trailer to a bike trailer this week.... so I'll be watching this thread for replies too....

No, I had a mount made for the front.

i work at a trailer shop (we sell wells cargo enclosed trailers) and you do not want to hang a spare tire from one of your barn doors. you can mount it on a inside wall or weld a post onto the toungue

How about in the floor?

Thanks Frank. I guess that rules out gas cans, too.

I'd seen the under floor things and it looks like a great idea, but the cross members are 24" on center and the tire is closer to 28" in diameter. So, to put one of the floor boxs in I'd have to cut out a section of cross member and I really don't think I want to mess with that.

That pic is from Pace. My guess is they double-up the bracing on both sides of the cut brace. Then use a cross brace on both sides of the tire well to support the ends of the cut brace - sort of like the framing around a stairwell in a house. It sounds like a lot of work.

Yeah, I'd love to do that, but it would be to much work, IMO.
