I currently have an enclosed trailer. I looked at all the different types. The advantages of swinging doors compared to a ramp door is it takes less space behind you to open the doors. Of course you have to carry a ramp or lift the bikes to load up. I have a rear ramp door and love it. I've never had any problems finding space to use it.

I've been looking at them and found that if I go with a ramp door I won't be able to open it in my driveway unless the front of my truck is in the street. So, I've pretty much desided I'm going with barn doors.

I used a 5 x 8 for a year or two.
It had one large swinging door which I prefer to the ramp just because I had one more wall to hang stuff on.

I ended up going with price and availability. The ramp door was like 500 more and getting one was tuff. I have one large door. If its close I can still open it up some to get in if I have to. I carry a ramp so getting the bikes in is no big deal. You can keep it semi closed if you want to be in there and don’t want people to see you. I have not missed the ramp door at all. I have used one with it and don’t really think it was worth the extra 500 bucks. Like mentioned before just gives you extra space to put things on if you need it also.
I actually when for the best of both worlds. Barn doors and made my own tilt down ramp (full width) that I can easily remove. Makes it a pleasure to load and unload and I don't have to store ramps anywhere. Also handy when using a dolly moving furniture or such (the compromise to wife for buying the trailer ;) )

Do you have any pictures of the ramp you made for it?? I have been thinking of the same thing and the hinge is the thing that I have to figure out still.
Thanks
Here's a pic of my ramp. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/Treen/2003_0330_162216AACustom2.jpg
The hinge is simple tubing welded to the bottom corners of the ramp and on the rear of the trailer frame with a small peice of rod as the hinge pin. Pull the pins and remove the ramp.
This is not mine, but the same idea...
