I'm looking for an enclosed trailer to replace my 5X10 open trailer. I want to be able to haul three bikes, all gear and tools, plus room for a workbench and a privacy stall.

I am thinking that a 7X14 is the smallest trailer that will work for me. I would consider anything up to an 18-footer. However, I'm told that if the trailer is wider than 7 feet, special mirrors are necessary to see around it.

Does anyone have any experience that would be useful? What brand of trailer do you like? Haulmark? Pace? Classic? Franklin? Interstate? Have you tried the 14 and found it too small? I'll hang up and listen.

I have a 6x12 pace trailer now, but I would like to get a 8x16 V nose Homesteader.

Why is the 6X12 too small? How many bikes do you haul? Tools, etc.?

I have 2 bikes and my son has a bike. I also haul my brothers bike. It's set up to haul 3 bikes + all my tools and gear. Don't get me wrong it is a great trailer, I just want something bigger.
I store my bike in it also, so it is being used 24/7.

I have an Interstate West. The interior box measures 12.5' X 6'. I can haul 4 bikes and gear with zero problems. I have permanent mounted chocks in the front, and settings (3) for Pingles in the rear. I also have shelf, Spare tire, room for generator, gas tanks, air canister, chairs, folding work bench (soon), and a canvas shoe rack that holds supplys.

The entire trailer is surrounded with diamond plate to protect it. The intial cost of the trailer: $2550.

Sounds cool, Strick. Is it tall enough to stand up in? If not, how much does that bother you? I'm six feet tall, and I'm thinking I'd like to have a trailer tall enough to stand up in with a helmet. Maybe that's not a big deal, though.

Box height is 6'6" in between beams, and 6'3" at the beams. I am 6' and walking and changing are no problem.

I know you said 7x14, but this trailer seems to be a good deal! I guy who wrote me via the TTR site sent it to me, so I don't know him personally.

Kali,
My wife and I are also selling our trailer. Would you post it for us?
Thanks
I am selling my enclosed trailer due to my wifes pregnancy. It is a 1995 Interstate that is 7' X 12' and has the extra tall option(it is almost 7' tall). It has a 3500lb axle with electric brakes and the break away option. It is painted bright yellow inside and has black and white checkerboard flooring. It has a ramp door in the rear and a front side door. It has two of the folding bike shoes premanantely mounted in the floor(http://www.artisanmfg.com/wheelchock.htm). These are very nice. It has a folding table mounted to the passsenger inside of the trailer that is great. It has 3 glass front cabinets mounted to the walls. It has a powered roof vent that is lighted. I also installed a cover so you can leave the vent open even in the rain and stay dry. We have had as many as 6 full size WR's and XR's in it at once. I spent a bunch of time and money setting this thing up and it is great. I am asking $3400 for it. George 217/726-5494

My two trailers have been TNT's (The Nations Trailers). I compared them to the Pace and Haulmark at the same dealer and I couldn't find any reason to pay more for the others. I've been happy with the brand for 3 years.

The first one was a dual axle 7'x14' before the Vee, almost 17' centerline. I don't like ramp doors so I ordered the swing doors in the back and it comes with a side entry door, too. That was a good size trailer for hauling 4-6 bikes. Easy to see around with normal mirrors on my suburban and adequate room for everything. Pulled great. We had a nice spare sleeper sofa in the shed that the wife wanted in the trailer. It barely fit crosswise and cramped up the trailer pretty good. It had to come out for anything over 3 bikes but it was nice for those long weekend rides away from home.

That trailer got hail damaged and one thing led to another and we ended up ordering the new one at 8.5'x16' before the Vee, just over 19' down the center. More room is always better, IMO. Realistically, I can't haul any more bikes and I still need to remove the sofa to haul over 3 but it's a lot more roomy and I like it a lot better for that reason. Doesn't seem to pull any harder but I use 3/4 ton 4x4's to pull them and those don't break a sweat over a small trailer like these.

They both have tall ceilings (6'6", I think) and are plenty tall for me at 6'2". We now have a Class C RV so the couch isn't used for sleeping much anymore but it's nice to have to change on, etc.
